The Lord will provide

burtons | April 9, 2010

We have had some good experiences this past week and so has our mission.
As you know, a week ago last Monday there was a terrorist attack on the Metro.  As a result we as missionaries were asked not to wear our tags and the young missionaries were not to do their regular [...]

Christmas, Vitaly and Anna’s Wedding

burtons | January 13, 2010

Dear Family,
We have had a wonderful week, but one that was very different from other years.  This year I had no last minute shopping to do and no last minute wrapping.  Well, not very much at least.  I didn’t get all the missionaries socks wrapped, so had to quickly do those before they left our [...]

Dear Family ,
We had a busy week last week.  We worked on a possible crisis situation.  One of our couples was asked to meet with the Minister of Religion in Perm, where they are serving.  We heard about it on Tuesday and worked all that day and part of Wednesday to try and get the [...]

The second was with the Saints who are members of the two Moscow Districts and their friends and families. This first part [...]

Lilacs

burtons | May 31, 2009

We left Twin Falls for the MTC (Mission Training Center) Monday April 13, 2009. As I looked out of my kitchen window one last time, I saw my lilac bush covered with leaves, but not one bud. I wailed, “I won’t get to see my lilacs this year”, but we were late, and time was [...]

An Angel of Compassion

burtons | May 3, 2009

On one of these occasions, the prompting of the Holy Ghost insisted on being heard. I heard myself counseling her to accept an assignment that would help her forget her troubles. “Go over to the nursing home”, I said. “There is a little lady there who desperately needs you. Tell her that I have sent you to encourage her and bring some sunshine and happiness into her life.” And in this way, a beautiful friendship began to grow.
